A virtual baby shower party is such a great idea. Thanks to Ilke for inviting me. Here is her link: http://www.ilkeskitchen.com/
When she asked me to join in this group I thought that would be nice to share a traditional Turkish recipe which Shelley would love to know since she loves different tastes as far as I know. She is going to need some freezer friendly, easy and less time consuming recipes.
All of a sudden Mosaic pie crossed my mind...It is one of the most common homemade desserts in Turkey...
Mine will be a little different, more healthy let me say...
Since it is going to be for a new mom it would better be that way, right?
Sugarless and nutritious...
Dear Ruby, I wish your mom make this recipe for you, and I will be indirectly feeding you in this way...Exciting and funny feeling some how...
Let me tell you that unfortunately the world you will be dealing is not a piece of cake, but hopefully you will have a great parents who will love you forever...
I wish you all the best and congratulations to Shelley and her husband...
Mozaic pie
Time: 15 min. for preparation
Storage: up to one week in freezer
For approx. 10 people
Ingredients:
200 gr. tea biscuits
50 ml. milk
50 gr. nuts
3 table spoons of good quality of cacao
200 gr. mixed dried fruits
80 gr. butter
Zest of an orange
That is all you need...
You melt the butter first.
In a bowl you crumble the biscuits into big chunks and add the butter just like cheesecake base.
Toast the nuts for 5 minutes in the oven at 200 Celsius. This brings out of its aroma out and makes it more crunchy. I use nuts as a whole, I like it that way...
Then you chop 200 gr. of dried fruits of any kind you want. I used a mix of pineapple, fig and ginger. And suddenly my eyes looked for some red in the recipe just like a ruby, then I've added some dry cherries as well.
Gently fold all ingredients together.
Wrap it with a stretch film and roll it. Put it in freezer to chill, and bring it out at least 15 minutes before serving.
You better use a sharp bread knife to cut it in pieces...
Enjoy it with a glass of cold milk!!!

Herkese afiyet olsun,
Yeni doğum yapan annelere de bol bol süt olsun...

Esra, I am so thrilled that Ilke has organized this virtual baby shower as it gave me a chance to meet some new bloggers! In Serbia we have a similar dessert which my mom called Cassato (and made with Petit Beurre cookies:)

Dear Lana, I do agree about your comments on this virtual party...You are right about the Petit Beurre, I use the same and it is definitely a ''mom recipe''...Keep in touch...

Kuvertür çikolatada Belcolade tercih ediyorum ben. Eminönü'ndeki tedarikçilerde pek yok. Daha ziyade Kasımpaşa'daki Doğanay gıda'dan alıyorum ben.
